The Emergency Communications division of the Department of Emergency Services is looking for a qualified applicant to fill the position of Emergency Communications Specialist (Dispatcher).

This is a 24/7 position that has shift work. The shifts could be 7:00am-7:00pm, 1:00pm-1:00am or 7:00pm-7:00am. There are also weekend shifts, holiday shifts and mandatory overtime on all shifts.
Applications for this job will be accepted through Tuesday, December 31st. Our approved salary range for 2025 is $23.18 – $31.37/hour, depending on qualifications.
Emergency Communications Specialists are responsible for processing emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance received on E911 (Enhanced 911) and 10-digit phone lines, and dispatching Fire and EMS units in Johnson County, and EMS units in Miami County.
